Common Interpretations
Not the power of God that inspires people to be better. The power of God that brings salvation. Salvation from what? From sin and its consequence — death — and from separation from God that sin produces. The gospel saves because it announces that what sin demanded has been paid, and that the One who paid it has risen. Grace. Through faith. Not earned. Not deserved. Not produced by religious effort or moral progress or doctrinal correctness. Given. The gospel is not an achievement. It is a gift.
