Context
In Matthew 28, the risen Christ commissions His disciples with all authority in heaven and on earth. The chapter places disciple-making, baptism, teaching, and Christ's abiding presence together at the climax of the Gospel.
Common Interpretations
A textual note: verse 37, in which the eunuch makes a verbal confession of faith before baptism, is absent from the earliest and most reliable manuscripts and is omitted in most modern translations, including this one. The same caution applied to Mark 16:9-20 applies here. The Ethiopian eunuch's response is the NT pattern — immediate. No delay. No deferral. Genuine faith produces immediate obedience. The question "what prevents me?" is the right question for every believer.
