Common Interpretations
This is the sharpest challenge to the framework of this study, and it needs to be handled honestly rather than smoothed over, because Jesus explicitly introduces this parable as a teaching on prayer and persistence. "Pray and not lose heart" is His stated purpose. The widow keeps coming, keeps asking, and eventually gets what she needs. On its face this looks like a direct endorsement of persistent, outcome-specific asking. But look carefully at what the parable is actually comparing.
