Context
In John 6, Jesus moves from the feeding of the multitude into the Bread of Life discourse, where material bread becomes the doorway into deeper revelation about Himself. The chapter is intentionally interpretive: it takes a physical sign and presses the reader toward Christ as the true and lasting source of life.
Common Interpretations
God's revealed will centers on the salvation of souls, the sanctification of believers, gratitude in all circumstances, and eternal life for those who believe. These are not mysteries — they are stated plainly and repeatedly throughout Scripture. God's providential will — His specific purposes for individual circumstances, situations, and events, which we often cannot know in advance. This is what Paul could not see when he asked three times for the thorn to be removed. This is what Abraham tried to engineer in Egypt instead of trusting. It is the path God is clearing that Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us we are not equipped to navigate on our own.
