Context
In Galatians 3, Paul argues fiercely that justification and sonship come through faith in Christ rather than works of the law. The chapter connects promise, faith, union with Christ, and covenant identity, so its baptism language belongs inside Paul's gospel argument about belonging to Christ.
Common Interpretations
Already quoted in Section III: "you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ." Read in sequence, these verses separate salvation and baptism as distinct realities. Sonship is through faith — verse 26. Clothing with Christ occurs at baptism — verse 27. The saved relationship precedes and produces the baptism that clothes the believer for new life.
