Ephesians 3:16-19

(LSB) 'That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be strong to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.'

Context

In Ephesians 3, Paul reflects on the revealed mystery of Christ and then prays for believers to be strengthened inwardly and filled with the fullness of God. The chapter places prayer inside the vast scope of God's redemptive purpose in Christ and in His church.

Common Interpretations

Three different letters, three different churches, three different situations — and the same pattern every time. Paul never once asks God to fix a circumstance. He asks that people would know God more deeply, love more fully, and walk in a way that honors Him. That is what Paul understood intercession to actually be for.
