Context

Acts 11:26 should be read within the flow of its chapter and the larger argument of Acts.

Common Interpretations

The early believers didn't say "Let's go to church." They were the church. Their identity was communal and spiritual — not geographical or architectural. When ekklēsia was replaced with "church," and "church" gradually became synonymous with a building, the identity that Scripture gives to every believer got transferred to an address.
